Living in Tanglewood
Tanglewood took its name in 1948 from Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Tanglewood Tales, and developer William Giddings Farrington laid it out with winding streets and generous lots beneath a canopy of live oaks. Today it remains one of Houston’s most sought-after neighborhoods, long home to well-known Houstonians including President George H.W. and Barbara Bush.
The heart of the neighborhood is Tanglewood Boulevard, where a granite walking path runs down the shaded esplanade past benches and live oaks planted by the Tanglewood Garden Club. Grady Park and Tanglewood Park on Woodway add green space close to home, and the trails, golf course and Houston Arboretum at Memorial Park are a short drive east.
The Bordeaux brings that same quiet, garden setting to a boutique community of 102 homes at Woodway Drive and South Post Oak Lane, with neighborhood favorites like Barnaby’s Cafe and Cyclone Anaya’s a few minutes west along Woodway and the shops of Post Oak Boulevard a few minutes south.
